Session 1: Cutting-edge Research

Species Difference of Eels Viewed from Defense Mechanism [JP]

Lecture Description

During the last decade, science of Unagi has rapidly developed, while at the same time worldwide population of Unagi has seriously declined. Japanese eel (Anguilla japonica ) added to IUCN "red list" of endangered species in 2014. Why did it happen? How can we recover Unagi resources? Can scientist rescue Unagi?  In this Symposium, Unagi scientists discuss the possibilities and limitations of science, and the ways to make compatible the conservation of species with the sustainable use of it
